If you love someone who is facing chemo treatments, why not crochet a cap to keep their noggin cozy.
I used different yarns for different caps, but mostly used sayelle. I even tried one (the little red and blue variegated one) in cotton thread. Depending on your yarn, and how tightly you crochet, you could stop increasing around 59 sts instead of going to 64 sts.
Change colours or even embroider some love onto them for interest.
What you'll need:
100 grams worsted or sayelle yarn
6.00 crochet hook
yarn needle
Ch 2
Rnd 1 - 8 sc in 2nd chain from hook, join with sl st, ch 1, turn.
Rd 2 - Sc in 1st st, 2 sc in following sts, repeat to end (12 sts)
Join with sl st, ch 1, turn.
Pin a safety pin to the beginning of the row so you'll easily see when you've gone around each time. After every few rows, move the pin up your work.
Rnd 3 - Sc in each of 1st 2 sts, 2 sc in following st, repeat to
end. (16 sts) Join with sl st, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 4 - Sc in each of 1st 3 sts, 2 sc in following st, repeat to
end. (20 sts) Join with sl st, ch 1, turn.

end (59 sts) Join with sl st, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 13 - Sc in each of 1st 10 sts, 2 sc in following st, repeat to
end (64 sts) Join with sl st, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 14 - Sc in each st. Join with sl st, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 15 - 33 - Sc in each st, Join with sl st, ch 1, turn.
Fasten off and weave end in.
Note:
To join wool or change colour, cut yarn 3-4 inches from work and weave it into the new wool using the yarn needle. Pull new yarn through the previous one and continue crocheting.
But for this extra funky one I knotted the ends instead and when finished even added a few more pieces by looping through the work and tying off.
A finished cap should measure about 9" across the bottom when folded in half as pictured and 7" long. Of course everyone's head is different so adjust as needed.
